Members’ Dinner Meeting Friday, September 13

The members’ dinner meeting resumes after the summer hiatus on Friday, September 13.  We have many new members who have joined over the summer and we look forward to seeing them at the meeting.  The schedule is as follows:

5:15 pm — Social Hour
6:15 pm — Speaker (TBA)
7:15 pm — Dinner

 

The menu for the September meeting is:
Caesar salad
Braised beef tips
Pasta primavera
Rice pilaf
Buttered corn
Brownies and cookies

 

Sri Parimala will be previewing her new collection of ethnic jewelry from India, along with scarves and hand-made brooches. She is donating 10% of the proceeds of any sales to benefit the Sketch Club. She will also be taking orders for November, just in time for holiday gift-giving!

Cost is $16 per person payable at the door.  Please RSVP to executivedirector@sketchclub.org or by calling 215-545-9298 before September 9.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

The June 2013 Members Dinner Meeting will take place on Friday, June 14 at the Clubhouse at 235 S. Camac Street, Philadelphia.  The schedule for the evening is as follows:

  • Doors open at 5:15 pm for social hour.
  • Speaker’s presentation at 6:15 pm.
  • Dinner will be served at 7:15 pm.
Our president Rich Harrington will be the speaker.  Rich is an Associate Professor of Illustration at Moore College of Art and Design.  The dinner menu is Caesar salad, Chicken Marsala, rice pilaf, baked stuffed shells, buttered green beans, and assorted pastries.  We have some new members who will be attending so please come to meet them.  Please RSVP by leaving a message at 215-545-9298 if you plan to stay for dinner.

2013 Annual Meeting of the Members

The Philadelphia Sketch Club Annual Meeting of the Members will take place on Friday, May 10 at the Clubhouse at 235 S. Camac Street, Philadelphia.  Members will elect officers and directors, vote on a proposed by-laws amendment, and conduct other business as needed.  The schedule for the evening is as follows:

  • Doors open at 5:15 pm.  Social Hour.
  • Meeting commences at 6:15 pm.
  • Dinner will be served at 7:15 pm.
The dinner menu is tossed salad, veal scallopini, penne pasta in vodka sauce, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, and assorted cheesecakes.  Cost for dinner is $16.00 per person.  Please call 215-545-9298 and leave a message on or before Monday, May 6 to make a dinner reservation.

Club By-Laws require a quorum to conduct business, so it’s very important that all members either attend the meeting OR complete the proxy ballot that will appear in the May Portfolio.  Hope to see everyone on May 10!

An evening with renowned illustrator Charles Santore on Friday, March 8, at the Philadelphia Sketch Club. Mr. Santore’s work is part of the permanent collections of the Brandywine River Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, as well as many private collections. He is a winner of the prestigious Hamilton King Award from the New York Society of Illustrators, where his work was recently featured this past October in a solo exhibition entitled: “Exploring the Narrative Picture.”
