This will be the first of our two PSC Annual Artist Invitational Exhibitions. This year we will be presenting works by two talented young Philadelphia-based artists. They are both awards winners at our previous shows. This show is being held in the Stewart Room Gallery.
- Arthur Haywood – is a fine artist and illustrator. He earned a B.F.A in Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of Art in 2012, before studying classical drawing at a small atelier in Philadelphia. He will be furthering his study of classical drawing and painting by beginning the Grand Central Atelier’s full-time program in the fall, in order to develop the technical skills needed to refine his representation of the nobleness of the human form.
- James Raymond – is an artist born and raised in Philadelphia. He grew up in some of the rougher neighborhoods within the city and was exposed to all forms of trouble. In his own words: “Art kept me away from these troubles.” He enrolled in Community College of Philadelphia at the age of 25. It was there, in the Art Department, he received instruction from Richard Estell, Jeffery Reed, Mei Ling Hahn and Terry Peterson. “They helped me grow into the artist I am today and still motivate me to become the artist I hope to be. My work is based on my surroundings and personal interest. I grew up surrounded by steel and concrete so my vision of a landscape painting is the urban environment.”
